London Heathrow Airport (LHR) Information
Heathrow Airport has the envied title of world's busiest airport. It handles passenger traffic to the tune of 60 million plus passengers every year. There are over 80 airlines that use Heathrow Airport, flying to over 180 destinations worldwide. The airport's two runways are serviced by four terminals, with a fifth terminal currently under construction.
Terminal 1 is mainly for domestic flights, while terminals 2 and 3 service flights to continental Europe and long-haul destinations. Terminal 4 is specifically for flights operated by British Airways, its partners and the Dutch carrier KLM.
As the world's busiest aviation hub, the airport is equipped with some of the most extensive airport shopping facilities in the UK. All four terminals have a range of UK leading retailers to choose from, both before passport control and beyond. The International Departures lounges offer a staggering array of leading jewellers, clothing stores, electrical goods stores and phone shops as well as a large range of duty-free goods.
Shopping, eating and business facilities
Heathrow Airport offers some of the finest and most popular UK high street restaurant chains. There is an assortment of relaxing coffee bars, family-orientated eateries and a number of establishments serving alcoholic beverages. There are also upmarket dining options.
There is an extensive range of shopping throughout Heathrow Airport. Before security there are many UK high street retailers including WH Smith, The Body Shop, Accessorize and Boots. After security is a staggering array of outlets including designer goods stores, electrical shops and giftware shops. Duty-free stores include World Duty Free and World of Whiskies.
Eating and drinking establishments are located throughout the airport's terminals. With coffee shops such as Costa, high street pub chain Wetherspoons and restaurant outlets such as Garfunkels and Café Uno, there is plenty of choice for everyone.
Heathrow Business Facilities
The Heathrow Business Centre is located between terminals 1 and 2. There are 20 meeting rooms complete with audio and visual equipment, fax and photocopying facilities and computer workstations with internet connections. Wireless internet is available in all four terminals for subscribers of BT Openzone or T-Mobile and computer stations with internet access are located both before and after security in all terminals.
The airport's business centre is situated between terminals 1 and 2. Fully equipped meeting rooms with fax and secretarial services are also provided. Throughout the airport, wireless internet is easily accessed for subscribers of BT Openzone or T-Mobile, or alternatively, each terminal provides a number of computer workstations with high speed broadband connections. There are executive business lounges offering free magazines, complimentary refreshments and business channel TV news.
Transport and parking at Heathrow Airport
Transport links into London are plentiful. The London Underground's Piccadilly Line runs directly into Central London from the airport tube station. The journey takes around an hour. There is also the Heathrow Express which travels non-stop to the city. Situated nearby terminals 1, 2 and 3, the Heathrow Central Bus Station offers a number of local coach and bus services that depart to locations in and around London, while National Express coaches offer services up and down the country. Taxi ranks are located outside all the terminals; all taxis are licensed black cabs.

It is recommended that you book your parking needs online before arrival in order to take advantage of reduced rates. Short-term parking spaces are located by each of the four terminals. Short-term parking is suitable for stays of up to 5 hours, while those staying up to 4 days can make use of the areas designated for business parking. Courtesy shuttle buses depart from the business and long-stay parking areas, and in some cases the journey to the terminal buildings can take up to 20 minutes. Motorbikes have a special free parking area, while valet parking is also offered.
Parking and drop off
There are a number of different parking options available at Heathrow Airport. Short-stay parking is suitable for stays of up to 5 hours and is located close to the terminals. Business parking is for those leaving their cars for a period of 3 or 4 days only. Courtesy shuttle buses depart to the terminals every 5 minutes from the business parking facility, while the long-stay car parking facility also offer a courtesy shuttle to the terminal. Due to the distance from the long-stay facility to the main complex, journeys can take up to 20 minutes. Please make allowances for this when checking in. A valet parking service is provided and there is a motorbike car park that is free of charge. It is advised that all parking be pre-booked online, where great savings can be made.
