Heathrow Airport Parking News - M25 Road Widening - Latest Travel Advice
Currently the M25 is being widened to five lanes in each direction from junctions 12 to 14, and to six lanes in each direction between junctions 14 and 15.
These road works are being carried out in two phases:
M25 Road Widening - Phase one
Both these works below have been completed.
Junctions 14 to 12, anti-clockwise, (southbound) carriageway - complete
Junctions 12 to 14, clockwise (northbound) carriageway - complete
M25 Road Widening - Phase two
These works are still underway with estimated completion dates below.
Junctions 15 to 14, anti-clockwise, (southbound) carriageway - early 2005 to summer 2005
Junctions 14 to 15, clockwise (northbound) carriageway - summer 2005 to December 2005
Works to complete the Spur road connecting the M25 to the new terminal at Heathrow Airport will continue through to late 2005.
Throughout the widening programme four lanes will be kept open in each direction. Additional lanes will only be closed during off-peak hours for essential works and will be agreed with local motorway police prior to work commencing. Because of the extensive works there is a 40mph speed limit restriction which will apply in both directions throughout the duration of the works and will be enforced using speed cameras. Vehicles wider than 6'6" (2 metres) i.e. lorries, coaches and H.G.V.s will be restricted to the 2 near-side lanes.
In case of any vehicle breakdowns Balfour Beatty will be operating a 24hour camera surveillance scheme to ensure any vehicles that do break down within the road works are recovered as quickly as possible.
